Calford Care Inc. builds business software and helps organizations untangle their systems, operations and technology.
Work directly with an experienced technology and business leader: more than twenty years leading technology, operations and projects, close enough to work through the details, and committed to seeing the work through.
Two disciplines Software and consulting, under one roof
20+ years Leading technology, operations and projects
WHAT WE DO
Software we build.
Problems we help solve.
Two disciplines, one standard: build what works, explain it plainly, and leave it in good hands.
SOFTWARE / CANDORA SYSTEMS Coming soon
Software built from our own books.
Candora started as the system that runs our own companies: books, time, invoicing and payroll in one place, where every number traces back to its paperwork. Now it is being prepared for other Canadian businesses.
Senior help without the layers: software, project and portfolio leadership, operations and process, IT strategy, and the websites that hold it together.
For consultants, contractors, small firms and the accountants who serve them.
Know where every dollar came from, and see what your business earns, owes and can afford.
Built in Canada for owners who want their books to make sense: HST handled, CRA payroll tables built in, several businesses under one sign-in, and an accountant who gets clean records at year end instead of a shoebox.
Bookkeeping
Every number traces back to its receipt, bill or invoice in one click
Drop a bill or statement and Candora reads it, files it and matches it
Run several businesses under one sign-in, with what they owe each other kept straight
Time tracking
Log time on a calendar and drag to adjust
Split one entry across projects
Hour caps per contract, so you never bill past what was agreed
Invoicing
Billable time flows straight onto the invoice
Turn your private notes into a polished summary, at the length you choose
Your logo, HST calculated, no cut taken from your payments
Payroll (Ontario)
Deductions from CRA's published tables: CPP, CPP2, EI and tax
Employer costs, remittance files and reminders
T4 slips at year end, and a Record of Employment (ROE) when someone leaves
Reports and statements
Every report ties to the general ledger
See what is left to pay yourself, live, after tax and obligations
A year-end package for your accountant in one download
Subscriptions are separate from hands-on implementation (setup, migration from your current system, and training), so you pay only for the help you need.
Consulting services
Experienced help for
the work that matters.
“
Work directly with a senior generalist who sees how technology, people, process and delivery fit together.
From a two-hour advisory session to a multi-month implementation, the goal is the same: real progress, and a result your team can run without us.
01
Software development
Custom applications, automation and integrations, built so the people who inherit them can maintain them. Candora is the proof: a full accounting platform, designed and built in-house.
02
Project and portfolio management
Governance and delivery plans for many initiatives at once, procurement from requirements to contract, and system implementations steered from start to handover.
03
Business and operations
Map how the work really flows, write procedures people actually follow, and get the organization ready for the change it is about to make.
04
IT leadership and advisory
An experienced IT director's judgement without a full-time salary: roadmaps, infrastructure, security and continuity planning, vendor selection and acquisition integration.
05
Website strategy and delivery
Corporate websites delivered end to end: discovery, content and leadership bios, visual direction, build and handover. Most small-business sites take about a month, depending on scope.
Focused consultation. Scoped projects. Ongoing advisory.
Cross-functional delivery. Candid about capacity and when a specialist
is needed.
Listen first, then look at how the work really happens, not how the org chart says it does.
02
Plan
Agree on scope, outcomes, owners and risks, in writing, before the work starts.
03
Deliver
Make progress visible, and say plainly what is on track and what is not.
04
Hand over
Document it, train your people, and leave you able to run it without us.
Candour
We tell you what the work needs, even when it is not what you hoped to hear.
Privacy
Your information stays yours: shared only with your permission, and kept secure.
Relationship
We work alongside your team, not around it.
Practicality
We choose what your people will actually use and can afford to keep.
SELECTED EXPERIENCE
Grounded in real work.
Senior experience across technology, operations and delivery, built over more than twenty years and still delivering results today.
CURRENT ENGAGEMENT
Bringing structure to complex delivery.
In a current engagement, we are providing portfolio and project leadership for a growing non-profit: bringing several organizational and technology initiatives under one plan, and carrying a major system from procurement through implementation, integration, user testing, training and change management, with the processes, policies and documentation to support it.
PRIOR CAREER INITIATIVES
Connecting the plant floor to the business.
As IT director in multi-site manufacturing: built and led three departments, including digital engineering; delivered a custom manufacturing execution system with real-time production status; led an ERP migration and IT implementations across the business; and integrated acquisitions, with operational excellence as the goal throughout.
OUR OWN OPERATIONS
Software that runs on real books.
Our own SaaS platform, Candora, runs the books of our companies every day: time tracking, invoicing, HST, bills and bank reconciliation, across more than one entity. Every feature has been proven in daily use on our own books before being offered to anyone else.
Leadership
Nathan Calford
Founder & Principal
Nathan has spent more than twenty years leading technology, systems and operations, most of them as an IT leader in multi-site manufacturing. There he ran an ERP migration, built a digital engineering function, delivered a custom manufacturing execution system and integrated acquisitions, while managing budgets, vendors and cross-functional teams.
He began consulting under the Calford Care name in 2016 and incorporated Calford Care Inc. in 2022. Today he leads portfolio and project work for clients and builds Candora, the company's own business software. He holds ITIL 4 Foundation, ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor and Oracle Primavera P6 certifications.

As Director of Information Technology for a multi-site manufacturing group operating in Canada and the United States, Nathan led a migration to a new enterprise resource planning platform across finance, engineering, production and procurement, built a digital engineering function from the ground up, introduced an agile development practice and delivered a custom manufacturing execution system that gave the business real-time production status.
Before that, he spent sixteen years providing centralized IT and project leadership across a group of six fabrication companies, rising to Director of Information Services. He led the technology integration of several acquisitions, from environment assessment and systems redesign to rapid go-live, built governance frameworks and led the rebuild of the group's public website.
Across both roles he ran RFP and statement-of-work processes, negotiated contracts and licensing, managed service providers and software vendors against service levels, built operating and capital budgets with business cases for executive leadership, led a headquarters relocation and guided cross-functional teams through competing priorities.
Nathan began consulting under the Calford Care name in 2016 and incorporated Calford Care Inc. in 2022. Today he provides portfolio and project leadership to organizations and builds the company's own business software.
Close enough to the detail to be useful anywhere. Honest enough to call in a specialist when it matters.

OUR PURPOSE
Building businesses. Investing in lives.
Long before Candora, care and community shaped the Calford family. Nathan and Nicole have spent years giving their time to children, families and neighbours who needed someone to walk alongside them.
That is why Nathan builds businesses: to create the time, energy and resources to do more of that work, through Calford Care Project.
CALFORD CARE PROJECT
Belonging and growth.
We come alongside children and families through encouragement, practical support and a community that cares.
